Nationally-Ranked NSU Downs Women's Tennis

Kearney, Neb. – The 37th-ranked Northeastern State RiverHawks won their 15 dual of the season by beating Nebraska-Kearney, 8-1, Friday afternoon at Harmon Park.

The second ranked team in the Central Region, NSU is now a 15-2 (6-1 MIAA) on the spring. UNK, ranked seventh in the Central, slips to 13-4 (3-3 MIAA).
 
In doubles, the 19th-ranked duo of Ivana Belejova and Kristina Savchenkov posted an 8-4 win in the top spot to give the 'Hawks a 2-0 lead. NSU then won 8-5 in the third spot to sweep doubles.
 
Loper junior Vanessa Gunawan (Indonesia), in the dual's final match, rallied to beat Belejova at No. 1 singles (6-7, 6-3, 10-7). Ranked second in the region, Gunawan is now 15-1 on the season. 

Belejova came in as the Central's seventh ranked singles player.
 
Sophomore Tealyn Trimble (Kearney) almost picked up another point for the Lopers as she took the second set of her No. 6 singles match with Barbora Jirckova. However, the Jirckova won the third set tiebreaker, 10-3, to score NSU's eighth dual point.
 
UNK plays Central Oklahoma Saturday at 10:00 a.m. The Bronchos are currently 39th in the country and third in the region.
