Box Score Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney women's soccer team scored two first half goals to beat Northeastern State, 2-1, Sunday afternoon at Ron & Carol Cope Stadium at Foster Field.
UNK improves to 2-8-1 (2-6) while the RiverHawks drop to the .500 mark (6-6, 3-5).
On rainy, windy and cold day, the Lopers got on the board in the 17th minute when junior
Kadie Walaszczyk (Houston, Texas) took possession of the ball after a turnover.
From the far left wing, she sent a cross towards the NSU net that found the upper corner of the goal. It marked her first goal of the fall and the third of her career.
About 23 minutes later, the Lopers were fouled prior to taking a corner. That led to a penalty kick for Walaszczyk.

In the second half, both teams had chances to get on the board. For UNK, freshman
Marika Van Brocklin (Hastings) had back-to-back shots hit the post and just sailed high of the NSU net.
With three minutes left, NSU finally got on the board when Hailey Colberg scored off a direct kick.
Outshooting the RiverHawks by one, UNK got three shots from both Walaszczyk and junior
Montanna Hostermann (Papillion).
Kearney is at Hastings College on Wednesday night.
