UCM has been the dominant women's soccer power in the MIAA for years. They've gone 47-1-3 in league play since the start of the 2010 season and, currently, have outscored the opposition by a 20-4 margin.
A very balanced attack is led by true freshman Alex Yockey (10 points; five goals) and sophomore Hannah Pyle (10 points; six assists). These are two of the six Jennies that have taken 10 or more shots. In goal, true freshman Ana Dilkes has 20 saves and a miniscule 0.49 GAA.
Last season against the Lopers, the since-graduated Hannah Moran hat a hat trick as the Jennies posted a 5-1 victory in Warrensburg.
Lindenwood, which hosts Hays on Friday, is coming off a 1-1 road tie with Emporia State. They had won their two previous games by 1-0 scores.
Junior Kristen Crabtree is tied for the MIAA lead in shots (3.50 per game). She has found the back of the net just once as the Lions have tallied a total of seven goals. Sophomore Miranda Huebner has two of those on only three shots.
Two keepers have played with true freshman Melissa Weiss posting a 2-2-2 mark thanks to 25 saves and a 0.93 GAA.
Last October, UNK managed a 1-0 double OT win over Lindenwood at Cope Stadium as
Becka Talcott tallied a goal in the 107th minute. The Loper outshot the Lions, 15-11.
Kearney has five goals on the season but two came in last Saturday's loss at Southwest Baptist. Junior
Montanna Hosterman (Papillion) has two and also leads in shots (23).
True freshman
Carly Brown (nine) and
Marika Van Brocklin (six) are among the Loper shot leaders with recent addition
Ellisa Janzen having three in three games. Finally, Omaha juniors
Katelin Mielke and
Regan Zach have combined to make 29 saves and post a 2.02 GAA.
Central Oklahoma (Friday) and Northeastern State (Sunday) come to Kearney next week. The Lopers then have a trip to Hastings College on Wednesday, October 15th
