Kearney, Neb. – The regionally-ranked Nebraska-Kearney tennis teams each swept St. Cloud State Friday night at the Racquet Center of Grand Island.

Both Loper squads are now 5-0 on the young season.

Against the rival Huskies (5-3), the men had to work hard for the sweep as 8th-ranked Yeswanth Nadella and Neto Cacace won 9-7 at No. 1 doubles over Jose Pole and Victor Kasak.

Taking the other two doubles matches by identical 8-4 scores, the Lopers won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. Cacace (Brazil) came back from a 1-0 hole to best Kasak at No. 2 doubles (1-6, 6-4, 6-3) to secure the weep.

The UNK women weren't pushed as hard as the Huskies (5-4) tallied a combined eight points in doubles.

In singles, Arizona junior Kari Emery won 6-1, 6-0 in the sixth spot with Texas junior Kristin Weems, ranked 19th in the Central, winning her No. 2 singles match by a 6-2, 6-0 score.

On Sunday, both Kearney teams face Hastings College in the afternoon. A key Central Regional match will begin at 9:00 a.m. when the 3rd-ranked Augustana women take on UNK.
