Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney tennis teams both defeated Lindenwood Sunday afternoon at Harmon Park.
This was the first time in 2014 UNK played a home dual in Kearney as the team spends the indoor season in Grand Island.
The men (12-4, 1-2) upset the 47th-ranked Lions,
6-3, while the women (13-5, 3-2) swept all nine matches from Lindenwood.
Ranked seventh in the Central, three spots lower than LWU, the UNK men grabbed a 3-0 lead after wins of 8-3, 8-4, and 8-5 in doubles.
Regionally-ranked
Mohab El Zanaty (Egypt) bounced back from a first set loss to win at No. 3 singles (3-6, 6-4, 6-4) with senior
Yeswanth Nadella (India), ranked eighth in the region, sweeping Filip Bogic (6-1, 6-2) at No. 1 singles.
Finally, Spanish freshman
Lucas Garces scored the other team point with a 6-2, 6-3 decision at No. 5 singles.

Emily Fink managed to pull out a 9-7 victory.
Kearney won all six singles matches in straight sets, including a 6-1, 6-2 score by Michigan freshman
Renee Hoekstra in the sixth spot.
The Loper women are back on the road next weekend with a trip to Oklahoma while the men head North to face Augustana.
