Box Score Kearney, Neb. – Wayne State junior forward Josie Brown tallied a rebound goal in the 10th minute to help Wayne State beat Nebraska-Kearney, 1-0, Wednesday night at Ron & Carol Cope Stadium at Foster Field.
This was the Lopers (0-2-1) home opener. Wayne, beating UNK for the first time, improves to 1-0-1.
Finishing with a game-high four shots, Brown ran down the center of the field with a Kearney defender next to her. Brown's first shot was deflected by Loper keeper
Regan Zach (Elkhorn H.S.). However, the loose ball found Brown again and she punched it for the game's only goal.
Wayne ended the night with nine shots, three taken by starter Mallory Hoyt. The 'Cats also had four corner kicks in the second half.
