Reina Horikawa
Kearney, Neb. – The road trip continues for the Nebraska-Kearney soccer team this weekend as they head to Missouri Western State and Northwest Missouri State.

With five MIAA games remaining on the schedule, UNK is currently in sole possession of fifth place with 10 points. Central Missouri and Northeastern State are tied for with 15 points apiece. Teams get three points for each win and a point for a tie.

The Lopers (4-5-3, 3-2-1) are at Mo West on Friday at 4:00 p.m. and then face the Bearcats Sunday at high noon. Check the UNK schedule page for media links.

The Griffons (6-4-1, 2-3-1) are 4-1-0 in St. Joseph this fall and are coming off a 1-0 double OT win at Emporia State.

Last fall, MWSU beat the Lopers in double OT, 1-0, as Lyle made three saves.

Coming off a 1-1 tie at Washburn, Northwest (2-6-3, 1-4-1) hosts Fort Hays State Friday afternoon. They have played just three games at home all season, going 1-2-0.

Eight of Kearney's 13 goals have coming in the first half while 15 of the opponents 23 goals have come in the second half.

Senior Montanna Hosterman (eight), junior Evie Sintek (six) and sophomore Reina Horikawa (five) lead the team in points with four others at three apiece. Hosterman (25) and Sintek (16) are also first and second, respectively, in shots.

True freshman Ali Hirschman (Millard South H.S.) has made 57 saves in 12 games, third most in the MIAA. She also has two shut outs and a 1.52 GAA.
