Hosterman Sets Goals Record in Loss

All-Time Leading Goal Scorer Montanna Hosterman
Box Score Kearney, Neb. – The Missouri Western State women's soccer team scored three second half goals to defeat Nebraska-Kearney, 3-1, Friday afternoon in St. Joseph, Mo.
 
The Griffons (7-4-1, 3-3-1) are now 5-1-0 at home and have allowed just nine goals all season. With MWSU's second half flurry, UNK falls to 4-6-3 (3-3-1).
 
UNK out shot Western, 6-4, over the first 45 minutes but keeper Sarah Lyles made two saves on the day to be a part of her fourth shutout.
 
Senior Sydney Andrews scored in the 61st and 78th minutes, her first two goals of the year, to give MWSU a 2-0 lead. The first goal came on a penalty kick with the second coming within the box.

Senior Katie Kempf then added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute after taking a pass from sophomore Sydney Cluck.
 
UNK's highlight came in the 87the minute when Papillion senior Montanna Hosterman scored her 18th career goal, a new school record. Becka Talcott tallied 17 goals between the 2010-13 seasons. 
 
The record goal came on a penalty kick and is Hosterman's team-leading fourth score of 2015.
 
Thanks to a big second half, MWSU out shot UNK by six, 16-10, and also had a lead in corners, 2-1.
 
The Lopers are at NW Missouri State Sunday at noon. Fort Hays State blanked the Bearcats (2-7-3, 1-5-1), 3-0, Friday in Maryville.
