Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney tennis teams are both picked third in the 2015 MIAA preseason polls.
On the men's side, the Lopers received 17 points and one of the six first place votes to trail only NW Missouri State (25; five first place) and Southwest Baptist (20) in a six-team race.
The UNK women tied NW Missouri (72 points) for third among 11 teams. SBU (98; eight first place) and Northeastern State (93; three first place) are the favorites.
In 2014, both Lopers squads made the NCAA Tournament, the women going 20-8 (7-3) with the men posting an 18-6 record (3-2).
This past fall, both Kearney clubs went 4-0 in duals. They begin the spring dual season this Saturday at the Racquet Center of Grand Island against Nebraska Wesleyan (10:00 a.m./both teams) and Hastings College (3:00 p.m./women only).
