Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney tennis teams easily swept the Concordia Bulldogs,
9-0 (men) and
9-0 (women), Wednesday evening at Harmon Park.
The 27th-ranked Lopers improve to 18-2 while the regionally-ranked women are now 19-4. Both squads are one win off the school-record for dual victories in a season.
UNK changed up its lineups throughout the duals but still didn't drop a singles set or allow more than four points in doubles.
The men saw junior
Fletcher Sheridan (Georgetown, Texas) and senior
Jack Nicholson (England) win 8-1 at No. 3 doubles with Nicholson winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. Sophomores
Lucas Garces (Spain) and
Mohab El Zanaty (Egypt) did the same at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively.
On the women's side, sophomore
Sthefani Rodriguez (Venezuela) and freshman
Jadyn Trimble (Kearney H.S.) were also perfect at No. 3 doubles, 8-0, with Rodriguez allowing only one point at No. 2 singles (6-0, 6-1).
Finally, Papillion freshman
Emma Neil won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles for a second straight match.
On Friday afternoon, both UNK teams have a key road dual at NW Missouri State. This trip was originally scheduled for April 7th but moved due to inclement weather in Maryville.
