Men Second Seed in MIAA's; NCAA Bid Up for Grabs

Kearney, Neb. – The 27th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney men's tennis team is the second seed in the 2015 MIAA Tournament that begins Friday in Springfield, Mo.

UNK (19-3) received a first-round bye in the six-team event. The Lopers will play Saturday at noon against the winner of third-seeded and 28th-ranked Southwest Baptist (10-6) and sixth-seeded Washburn (4-10).

The 17th-ranked NW Missouri State Bearcats (15-6) are the top-seed and will face either Emporia State or Lindenwood in the semifinals.

The first and third place matches will be held Sunday at noon. The winner of the tournament receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

This year, the Central Region receives just three bids to the NCAA's; the NSIC (Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conf.) and GAC (Great American Conf.) don't receive an automatic bid due to the number of schools that sponsor men's tennis.
