Kearney, Neb. - The Nebraska-Kearney tennis teams both swept Nebraska Wesleyan, 9-0, Saturday night in the Capital City.
Both UNK teams are now 4-0 as each won three duals in the fall.
The 23rd-ranked Loper men allowed just five total points (one in doubles & four in singles) in its sweep of the Prairie Wolves (2-2). Junior
Mohab El Zanaty (No. 4) and sophomores
Joey Richards (No. 2) and
Georges Wakim (No. 5) each shut out their opponent in two sets with El Zanaty teaming with redshirt freshman
Raul Rodriguez to win 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.
At No. 1 doubles, Wakim and junior
Lucas Garces won 8-0 as well.
The women had a tougher battle with Wesleyan (1-3) as junior
Sthefani Rodriguez (No. 2) and junior newcomer
Leigha Limbach (No. 6) each won third set tie breakers by a 10-4 score to win in singles. Papillion sophomore
Emma Neil was the most dominant Loper, blanking her opponent in two sets at No. 5 singles.
Finall, in women's doubles, Neil and Limbach won 8-1 in the third position.
The Loper women will be in Grand Island Friday night to face the William Jewell Cardinals. The annual UNK Tennis Classic will then be held Saturday in Kearney.
On Tuesday, the UNK men host one of the top junior colleges in the country, Cowley County, Kan., at 2:00 p.m. That dual will be in G.I.
