Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney tennis teams beat Emporia State,
6-3 (men) and
5-4 (women) Saturday in Kansas.
The 21st-ranked Loper men (14-2) won its first MIAA dual by taking all three doubles matches and going 3-3 in singles.
Winning 8-6 at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, UNK saw Minnesota sophomore
Joey Richards beat Keenan Smith, 7-5 & 6-2, at No. 4 singles. His victory made it 5-0 and secured the dual win over the Hornets (13-5, 1-3).
On the women's side, Kearney got out to 2-1 lead as they managed to win at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles by scores of 8-6 and 9-7. Like the men, the Lopers (13-4, 5-2) went 3-3 in singles, seeing Missouri freshman
Camryn Parnell win 6-0 & 6-3 at the fifth spot in the order to score the fifth point in the dual.
UNK heads to Wichita on Wednesday, April 13th, to face the Southeastern Oklahoma State Savage Storm. The dual was originally scheduled in March but was weathered out.
