Kearney, Neb. – Throwers
Jacob Bartling and
Andrew Heine had NCAA provisional throws in the shot put Saturday at the annual
Jim Dutcher Memorial at Doane University in Crete.
The two-day meet began Friday with the multi-events, hammer and javelin. The non-team scoring meet was attended by Lopers who didn't go to the
Kansas Relays but there were a few that pulled double duty.
One of those was Bartling (Elm Creek), who entered the day already on the national list in the shot and discus. Today, he had a season-best throw of 54-4.75 to place fifth and move up to 24th in Division II. Two spots back was Heine (York), who came in with a career-best 53-1.75.
Bartling also finished runner up in the discus with a heave of 163-2.
Also on the men's side, Norfolk freshman
TeJai Clausen was one of four Lopers in the 5,000 meter run and he won in a time of 15:38.76. In the 110 hurdles, Kearney senior
Garrett Arnold was runner up (15.11) with Omaha redshirt freshman
Jake Mumby fourth in the 800 (50.28).
The Loper women had a strong day as they recorded nine top five finishes. Bertrand junior
Allison Mason (pole vault/10-11.75), Laurel redshirt freshman
Sadie Petersen (5,000/19:49.82) and Omaha true freshman
Zoeie Bacon (steeplechase/12:11.03) led the way with second place finishes.
Next, Illinois junior
Danielle Rowand was fourth in the pole vault (10-6), Colorado sophomore Michaela Hoffman was fourth in the 100 hurdles (14.90) and Utica sophomore
Mackenzie Crowder was fifth in the shot (44-9).
Finally, at KU, Texas senior
Preston Foley finished sixth in the 100 meter finals (10.65) with Lincoln junior
Mandera Gatwech eighth in the 400 finals (49.20).
UNK will again be split up next week between the Drake Relays in Iowa, the Hillsdale College GINA Relays in Michigan and the Prairie Wolfe Invite in Lincoln.
