Week Five: RiverHawks & #20 Bronchos Come to Town

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney women's soccer team returns home this weekend to face two of the top squads in the MIAA.

The Lopers (3-5-0, 1-0-0) battle Northeastern State (6-2-0, 0-1-0) Friday afternoon and then entertain No. 20 Central Oklahoma (8-0-0, 1-0-0) on Sunday. Check the Loper schedule page for kickoff times and media links.

To date, NSU has outscored its competition 19-8 while UCO is at an impressive 25-2 margin. Last season, the 'Hawks tied for second place in the MIAA with a 15-3 (9-2) record while the 'Chos (7-10-2, 4-5-2) were in seventh.

UNK is 1-4-1-0 all-time vs. NSU and 3-4-0 against UCO. The Lopers beat the 'Chos in 2017 and 2016 while tying NSU in Kearney two years ago. The 'Hawks posted a 2-1 victory in Tahlequah last fall.

The Lopers have allowed the fifth fewest goals, nine, to date in the league and are also tied for fifth in saves with 41. Individually, junior defender Molly Willis (Kearney H.S.) has played all 722 minutes to date with sophomore midfielder Megan Cook (Bellevue West) having sat out just 10 minutes all season. The UNK record for minutes in a season by a field player is 1,709, set by Lauren Hoeft in 2013.

Kearney remains at home next weekend when NW Missouri State (1-6-0, 0-1-0) and Missouri Western State (5-3-0, 0-1-0) come to town.
