Goal Scorer Becomes Eighth Newcomer

Kearney, Neb. – Nebraska-Kearney head women's soccer coach Chloe Roberts announced today that forward Perla Navarro will play for the Lopers next season.

The California native has two years of eligibility remaining after starring at East Los Angeles College the past two falls. She is the eighth recruit to date as UNK added seven to the 2020 roster back in November. Roberts noted the team may add more players later this spring.Perla Navarro

'We are very excited to add Perla to our squad. She is going to provide a lot of offensive threat and has a real eye for goal. She will provide a different dimension for us going forward, and we can't wait for her to get started," Roberts said.

Over the past two seasons Navarro (5-2) helped the East L.A. Huskies win eight games and tie 11 others by leading in points, goals, shots and shots on goal. She tallied 58 points on 29 goals in her ELAC career while having five game winners. Having a hat trick against league power Mt. San Antonio to conclude her freshman season, Navarro was twice named All-South Coast Conference North Division. Finally, she led the SCC North Division in goals (18) in 2018.

Navarro prepped at Fremont High in Los Angeles where she was part of a powerful Pathfinders soccer program. Also letting in volleyball and track, she helped the soccer team win 67 games between 2014-17. Named All-City Division II first-team Navarro was  tabbed as her squad's Offensive Player of the year as she amassed 191 goals in 76 career games (2.5 avg.).

The Lopers went 2-9-7 (1-5-5) in 2019, setting a new school record for goals against average (0.87). The Lopers had seven shut outs and seven games allowing up just a single goal in finishing 10th in the league standings. Kearney hopefully reports to fall camp in mid-August.
