Loper Men Finish Seventh in Division II

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney men's cross country/track and field program is ranked seventh in the 2022-23 Division II Program of the Year standings.

The U.S. Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) Program of the Year Award honors the institution that has achieved the most success in each academic year (spanning the cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field seasons) based on the institution's finish at the NCAA Championships.

In order to be eligible for the award, teams must qualify for each of the NCAA Championships. Scoring is based on the team's finish at each meet (i.e. 1st = 1 point, 2nd = 2 points … 31st = 31 points) with the lowest total score for all three championships combined determining the award winner. Ties among schools split points for positions taken.

UNK was 22nd in cross country, 17th at the indoor meet and 16th at the recent outdoor championships (55 points). Grand Valley State of Michigan (11 points) led the way with MIAA-member Missouri Southern (19.5) second and Pittsburg State (22.0) third. Washburn (16th/118.0) was the other MIAA school in the Top 16.
