Comer Reaches Nebraska Match Play Semis

Kearney, Neb. – Nebraska Kearney junior golfer Allison Comer recently reached the semifinals of the 100th Annual Nebraska Women's Match Play Championships.

The multi-event was held at the Happy Hollow Club in Omaha June 5-7. The field first took part in an 18-hole tournament with the top 16 finishers advancing to a match play bracket.

Comer (Overland Park, Kan.) shot a 3-over 74 to tie for third place on Monday morning. She was seeded third in the match play bracket and promptly defeated Julia Karmazin, 3 & 1, on Monday afternoon. Karmazin was the 2022 Nebraska Girls' Co-Golfer of the Year playing for Elkhorn North High School. On Tuesday morning in the quarterfinals, Comer got past Emily Kryzyanowski, 3 & 1. Krzyzanowski was a freshman at Division I Valparaiso (Ind.) during the 2022-23 season.

Comer, who reached the quarters of this event last June, saw her run come to an end as she fell to Nebraska's Lindsey Thiele, 6 & 5, in Tuesday afternoon's semifinal match. Thiele won this event in 2022 and was a junior at UNL during the 2022-23 season. She went on to defeat Kaitlyn Hanna, a freshman at Iowa, on Wednesday for the title, 2 & 1.
