The Herd Grows with D2 Signing Day

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney football team will announce the names of 51 newcomers as part of Division II Signing Day this Wednesday (Feb. 7).

Second-year head coach Ryan Held and his staff have brought in 14 mid-year transfers that are currently going through winter workouts and will then take part in spring ball next month. Two transfers will then join the program in the summer.

Additionally, 35 other high school seniors will arrive for fall camp. As always, UNK will add some more newcomers after signing day and up until the start of the 2024 season.

"Our goal with this Class was to really hit the State of Nebraska hard. We feel like we've been able to acquire some in-state kids that can develop in our program and achieve the goals of being MIAA Champions," said Held. "We wanted to make every position on our roster competitive with guys that can either play right away, via the transfer portal, or get better over time. These guys fit what we want, in terms of talent, character, coachability, and coming from winning programs."

On Monday (Feb. 19), Held and his assistants will talk about the "2024 Class" at Cunningham's on the Lake. Hosted by the Loper Gridiron Club, the event runs from 6-8 p.m. and features complimentary apps with a cash bar available as well.
