Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney track and field team has a busy weekend as they took part in four different meets spread across three different days to finish up the regular season.

UNK was in Iowa for the 115th Annual Drake Relays and the Kip Janvrin Open, in Lincoln for the Prairie Wolf Outdoor Invitational and Kansas for the Alex Francis Classic. Both the NWU and Fort Hays meets moved dates due to weather conditions.

In Des Moines, York junior Brynn Hirschfeld was ninth in the steeplechase with the second-best time in school history (10:44.96). Kansas junior Rylan Basart (205-3) led the trio while David City senior Payton Davis placed seventh in the 1,500 (3:50.34).

Over in Indianola, Albion senior Jordan Soto-Stopak was fifth in the 5,000 (17:40.53) with a time just two seconds off her personal best. UNK won four throwing events in Hays as Kenesaw redshirt sophomore Eli Jensen had a toss of 161-10, Ord redshirt freshman Sam Boettcher had a heave of 50-2.75 in the shot put and 181-6 in the hammer with Kansas senior Brooklyn Staab recording a 127-0 in the women's jav. Next, Kansas sophomore Toree Slavik was runner up in both the discus (150-9) and hammer (163-8) as was Hastings freshman Megyn Scott in the pole vault (11-0.25).

Finally in the Capital City, Sidney junior Mitchell Deer won the 400-hurdles in a career-best time of 53.67. That moves him into seventh place in the all-time Top 10. Next, St. Paul sophomore Jonah Paulsen won the triple jump (45-9), Kansas junior Abby Rose was first in the women's 400 (57.53), Holdrege senior Samantha Schemper was runner up in the vault (11-10) with Lincoln freshman Tasia Sadler and Stamford junior Brianna Russell both clearing 5-4.25 to tie for second in the high jump.
