MIAA Championship Weekend

Kearney, Neb. – The 2025 MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held this Friday-Sunday (May 2-4) in Emporia, Kan.

The meet is hosted by Emporia State at Fran Welch Stadium/Zoe Witten Track with the decathlon and heptathlon getting things started Friday at 2 p.m. The meet begins in earnest Saturday at 10 a.m. and should wrap up Sunday at 5:30 p.m. 2025 MIAA Outdoor Logo

Last year in Maryville, Mo., the Loper men placed sixth (62.50 points) with the women eighth (52.50 points). The Pittsburg State men have won nine of the last 11 titles including the past three with the Gorilla women having taking seven of the past nine crowns.

In the most recent National Team Ratings, PSU's men are No. 1, Missouri Southern is No. 5, Washburn is 13th, Northwest Missouri 15th and the host Hornets 17th.. On the women's side, Pitt (1st), Mo So (13th), Washburn (20) and Northwest (22nd) are all in the Top 25.

The top three finishers in each individual and relay receive medals and are recognized as "All-MIAA" for the 2025 spring season.

Kearney junior Lily Novacek (hammer/209-8) and Hastings sophomore Nolan Studley (high jump/7-1) lead the MIAA in their respective events with five Lopers ranking third heading into the championships. They are York junior Brynn Hirschfeld (steeple/10:44.96), Stamford junior Brianna Russell (high jump/5-6), Lexington freshman Will Kulhanek (400/46.97) Gothenburg freshman Madison Smith (discus/164-9) and Lincoln freshman Tasia Sadler (high jump/5-6).

The UNK women look to score in the discus and high jump (three ranked in the top 10) and at 800 and 5,000 meters (two in top 10). The Loper men's top events are the 800 (four in top 11), steeple (4 in top 10), javelin (three in top 11) and discus (two in top 11). Finally, Ord redshirt freshman thrower Sam Boettcher is in the MIAA top 11 in three events with Kulhanek, Novacek, Kansas senior Brooklyn Staab and McCool Junction freshman Kassidy Stuckey in two each.

Next weekend, select Lopers will compete in the Concordia Twilight (May 9) and Loper Twilight (May 10).
