A senior from Wichita, Nelson was one of five Loper wrestlers to win an individual crown at Sunday's MIAA Championships in Oklahoma.

Helping UNK win the team title, the top-seeded Nelson easily won the 165 lbs. class thanks to a 12-4 major decision and a 10-3 win in the finals.

The U. of Oklahoma transfer is now 22-3 (13-1 vs. D2 competition).
