Soccer Drops Road Game in Denver

Raliegh Mercer has scored 5 of UNK's 11 goals this fall
Box Score Kearney, Neb. - The 13th-ranked Metro State women's soccer team recorded 35 shots, and scored three goals in less than two minuets, to beat Nebraska-Kearney, 6-1, Sunday afternoon in Denver.

The Roadrunners improve to 9-1 (5-1 RMAC) while the Lopers fall to 3-6-1 (1-4-1 RMAC).

Coming off a Friday night 1-1 tie with 20th-ranked Colorado School of Mines, UNK fell behind in the 32nd minute when redshirt freshman Jade Ryals scored her first collegiate goal, heading in a ball passed by sophomore Tess Hagenlock.

The Roadrunners added another goal about four minutes later to lead 2-0 at halftime. Early in the second half, true freshman forward Brandi Farley dribbled passed three Loper defenders to record her first collegiate goal.

For the fifth time this season, sophomore Raliegh Mercer (Centennial, Colo.) scored a goal for the Lopers. In the 52nd minute, freshman forward Ashtin Pawolski (Hastings) had a shot saved by 'Runner keeper Danielle Quigley but Mercer was there to put the rebound into the net.

Metro finished the day by recording goals at 69:38, 70:39 and 71:09. True freshman forward Abby Rolph, the 'Runners leading scorer on the year, scored two of these goals, pushing her season total to eight.

UNK is at UCCS next Friday and visits New Mexico Highlands on Sunday.
