Box Score Kearney, Neb. - Metro State redshirt freshman Karisa Price scored two goals to lead the Roadrunners to a
2-0 win over Nebraska-Kearney Friday night at Ron & Carol Cope Stadium.
Metro improves to 12-3-1 (8-3-1 RMAC) while the Lopers fall to 4-10-1 (2-8-1 RMAC).
A forward from Arizona, Price came into the game with six goals on the season. She tallied her seventh at the 9:25 mark after taking a pass from teammate Aubrey Fondy.
Beating a Loper defender in the box, Price then poked the ball past UNK keeper
Marissa Niday (Fremont) for a 1-0 lead.
The two teams pretty much played between the 20-yard lines for most of the night. Metro had 10 shots overall to the Lopers five.
Applying some more pressure in the second half, UNK fell behind by two goals at 60:48 when Price got free and ripped a shot, left footed, from 15 yards out that went high and into the corner of the net.
UNK had some excellent chances down the stretch to score. After a Metro foul, senior
Melanie Patrick (Hastings) and sophomore
Becka Talcott (Denver, Colo.) were part of a large group of players in front of the Roadrunner net.
Both Patrick and Talcott took shots that were either saved or blocked by Metro. Later, senior defender
Talisha Krason (Kearney) let loose a shot that just sailed high of the 'Runner goal.
UNK hosts Regis, another RMAC power, on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
