Kearney, Neb. - The Nebraska-Kearney tennis teams are ranked third (women) and fourth (men) in the first region rankings of the year.
These rankings determine the teams that qualify for the NCAA Tournament later this month.
Thanks to duals against MIAA members Emporia State, NW Missouri State and Washburn, as well as a home dual against Lewis (Ill). the Lopers strength of schedule is very high.
Entering this week, both UNK squads are 6-5 vs. Division II schools, including a 4-4 mark against in-region competition. These records include the Lopers fall wins over Colorado Mesa but not the women's win over Fort Hays State on Tuesday.
UNK is in Colorado this weekend with the Lopers taking on Metro State, CSU-Pueblo, Mesa and Western New Mexico the next three days.
