Brisdon & Melnik Named to All-America Team

Kearney, Neb. – Junior Andy Brisdon and sophomore Ivan Melnik have earned All-American honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

To earn D2 AA status, players must be in the top 20 of the final national singles rankings or in the top 10 of the final national doubles' rankings. The rankings were released on May 27 with Bridson (U.K.) and Melnik (Germany) in the eighth spot.

They become UNK's first-ever D2 men's All-Americans; both Ron Goodman and Steve Rademacher were tabbed NAIA AA's back in 1985. Last year, current junior Fabiana Gamboa (Venezuela) became the women's program's first-ever AA (D2 or NAIA).

Brisdon and Melnik went 24-8 this past season, including a 17-5 mark at the No. 1 spot in duals. Going 5-0 vs. MIAA competition to earn first-team all-league honors, they faced a tough schedule throughout the fall and spring seasons. The pair went 8-4 vs. the nation's Top 50 doubles teams including wins over 2nd-ranked Solorzano/Mikkelsen from Harding (Ark.) and 14th-ranked Nitzschke/Neumann of Southern Arkansas.

As a team, UNK finished 39th in the national rankings, reached the MIAA Tournament semifinals and the NCAA Tournament. The 2026-27 season begins in September.
