Kearney, Neb. – The 51st-ranked Nebraska-Kearney men's tennis team upset 33rd-ranked Harding, 5-4, Monday in Searcy, Ark.
The Loper women (11-5) weren't as lucky, losing the third set in two singles matches to fall
6-3 to the Bison from the Great American Conference (GAC). Both teams are ranked in the Central Region Top 10.
Ranked seventh in the Central, the UNK men (10-4) needed a win over a Harding squad (5-4) that was tied for fourth in the region.
Kearney managed wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to grab a 2-1 lead and then won at No. 3, 5 and 6 singles to take
a match that should help the Lopers come NCAA Tournament time in May.
Junior
Jack Nicholson (England) tallied the fifth point with a straight sets (6-2, 6-4) win over Germans Uglovs at No. 6 singles. One spot higher, freshman
Lucas Garces (Spain) tallied UNK's fourth team point with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Caleb Reynolds.
The other singles win came from freshman
Mohab El Zanaty (Egypt), ranked 17th in the region. He beat Yann Le Mat by a 6-4, 6-2 score.
In doubles, Zanaty and Garces won 8-4 in the second spot with Colorado freshman

Fletcher Sheridan taking their No. 3 match by a 8-5 score.
The Harding women (8-5) led UNK 2-1 after doubles as the No. 2 team of Ali Rowden and Katie Huff bested junior
Kristin Weems (Arlington, Texas) and freshman
Emily Fink (Elkhorn) by an 8-6 score.
The Bison then won the third set at No. 2 and 4 singles to take the dual. UNK's singles wins came in straight sets by junior
Kari Emery (No. 6) and senior
Britni Norfolk (No. 5).
UNK came in ranked 8th in the Central with Harding 10th.
The Lopers are at Division II member LeMoyne-Owen College on Tuesday.
