UNK Third in Final Fall Event

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney women's golf team finished up its fall season by placing third at the annual Midwest Fall Classic Tuesday in Maryville, Mo.

The 12-team, 36-hole event was held at the par 72 Mozingo Lakes G.C. Scores, both individual and team, were a bit up as the average squad effort was a 344 with the average round an 86.

UNK turned in a 644 (318-326) to trail only Central Missouri (624) and tourney host Northwest Missouri (635) with Arkansas-Ft. Smith in fourth (645). UCM's Libby Green fired a 6-under 66 on Monday but came back to earth on Tuesday with a 6-over 78. She was the medalist with the runner up seven strokes back.

Colombian senior Juliana Botero Molina paced the Lopers with a fourth-place effort (154; 73-81). She tied for the second best (+4.63) scoring average on par 5 holes thanks to an Eagle on the par 5 sixth hole (433 yards) during the first round. Next, Kansas sophomore Claire Berquist tied for 12th (160; 76-84) playing as an individual. She had three birdies and 19 pars overall.

Also cracking the Top 25 were Minnesota freshman Calie Dockter (19th/162; 81-81)) and Kansas sophomore Liz Lyons (23rd/164; 84-80). Finally, Arizona graduate Sophia Coleman tied for 27th (166; 82-84), Texas sophomore Sofia Wildeman tied for 36th (171; 83-88) with Arizona junior Emmie Rhude tied for 52nd (178; 82-96). Wildeman was UNK's second individual in the field.

The Lopers will tee it up again in spring 2025.
