Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney women's golf team won the Battle at the Bayside with true freshman Calie Dockter sinking a 40-foot putt to win a playoff for medalist honors Tuesday in Brule.

The eight-team, 36-hole event was co-hosted by UNK and Wayne State at the par 71 Bayside G.C. Callie Dockter

The Loper varsity managed rounds of 314 and 310 (624) to win by 16 strokes over NW Missouri. The UNK "B" squad, paced by Dockter, was fifth (655; 323-332) and beat varsity teams from Chadron State, Fort Hays State and Concordia. They were third after day one.

Dockter (Byron, Minn.) had rounds of 74 and 77 to shoot a 9-over 151 and tie NW Missouri and Gering senior Madilyne Schlaepfer for first. She carded three straight birdies on the back nine today (holes 14-16). On the playoff hole, Dockter sunk a 40-footer while Schlaepfer missed about a 20-footer for birdie.

Next, Arizona junior newcomer Emmie Rhude (79-73) and Colombian senior Juliana Botero Molina (73-79) each fired a 152 to tie for third with Kansas junior Beth Grant (79-78) and Kansas sophomore Liz Lyons (80-77) five stroke back in sixth. Dockter and Grant were on the "B" team with Rhude, Botero-Molina and Lyons the varsity's top three. Finally, Kansas senior Brooke King (T-11th/163; 82-81) was the other Loper to finish in the Top 20.

The Blue & Gold are off next week before having a rare home tournament (MIAA Preview) at Meadowlark Hills G.C. Sept. 23-24.
