Kearney, Neb. – Former Nebraska Kearney cornerback Ife Current recently was named to the D2Football.com "Elite 100" team for the recently completed 2025 season.

The Elite 100 is D2Football.com's version of an All\-America team. Players are selected by staff members of D2Football.com with input from sitting head coaches as well as professional football scouting veteran Josh Buchanan. The team includes first and second team selections for offense, defense and special teams along with 25 "Squad" players for offense and defense. Squad players are equivalent to "honorable mention" selections in similar national recognition lists.Ife Current

Earlier in December, Current (Kennedale, Texas) was named an honorable mention All-American by Don Hansen's Football Committee and made the Conference Commissioner's Association (CCA) All-Super Region 4 team as a first-team choice. He joins defensive end Quillan Felton (2024) and quarterback TJ Davis (2022) as recent Lopers to make the D2 Elite squad.

Previously at Missouri Southern and Texas-Permian Basin and currently committed to FCS powerhouse South Dakota State, Current was one of the MIAA's top corners in 2025. He tied for the lead in interceptions (four) with two others while bringing one back 38 yards for a touchdown vs. playoff qualifier Chadron State. He finished the year with 55 tackles (45 solo) and four pass breakups and was part of a defense that allowed just 22.6 points and 325.5 yards per game while forcing 25 turnovers.

UNK went 6-5 this past season, beating in-state rivals Wayne State and Chadron and going 4-1 at home. The spring season begins in March 2026.
