UNK Moves Up on Another Windy Day at Meadowlark Hills

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney women's golf team moved up a spot to eighth after day two of the 2025 MIAA Championships at Meadowlark Hills G.C.

The 12-team, 54-hole event began Sunday morning and continues through Tuesday afternoon. Constant wind gusts well over 30 miles per hour have greeted 68 golfers all tournament long.2025 MIAA Champ Logo

On the par 71 course, the average score was 83.35 after being 82.06 on Sunday. UNK has turned in scores of 325 and 322 (647) to be three shots ahead of Northeastern State and within seven strokes of sixth-place Washburn. No. 21 Central Missouri (620) leads with Arkansas-Fort Smith in second (629).

Northeastern State senior Sam Maceli (11-over 153) and Rogers State senior Kristin Gudmundsdottir (12-over 154) are in first and second place, respectively, with eight others between 155-157.

UNK's All-MIAA honorees, Colombian senior Juliana Botero Molina (82-78) and Kansas sophomore Liz Lyons (83-77), are tied for 21st (160). Both had two birdies on the front nine; the Lopers teed off on hole 10 at 8:40 this morning and had a slow start but carded 10 birdies on the front nine to rally. 

Botero Molina also set a new school record for career rounds played (97). Faviola Gonzalez took part in 96 rounds between 2019-13; no other Lopers have reached 90. 

Next, Minnesota freshman Calie Dockter is 29th (161; 77-84), Texas sophomore Sofia Wildeman is 34th (163; 87-76) with Arizona senior Sophia Coleman 40th (160; 83-83). Wildeman was the individual for a second straight day and had UNK's best round thanks to three birdies and eight pars. Dockter had two birdies as well with Coleman at a birdie and four pars. Finally, Kansas sophomore Claire Berquist is tied for 59th place (175; 89-86).

Third round tee times will be determined later Monday and will run from 10-11:50 a.m.
