Kearney, Neb. – Nebraska Kearney women's soccer coach Rob Breton today announced the names of six freshmen and two transfers that'll join the Lopers this fall.

The in-state newcomers are keeper Maddie Schaffert (Gretna East H.S.) and outside back Shaeley Reichmuth (Omaha Skutt Catholic H.S.) with center midfielders Odyssey Perez (Brentwood) and Sierra Rosemont (Walnut Creek) coming in from California and keeper Cree Stewart (Tecumseh) and center midfielder Paige Winter (Wichita) hailing from Kansas. The group is rounded out by center back Sydney Fisher (Colorado Springs) and winger Sophie McWilliams (Bathgate, Scotland). Finally, both Perez (Diablo Valley College, Calif.) and Stewart (U. of Missouri-Kansas City) have previous collegiate experience.

Last week, the Lopers announced the addition of transfers Ashley Bredthauer (Oral Roberts U.) and Maddy Province (Northeast C.C.). With returnees, the 2025 roster features 32 players.

"I feel that this is a decisive class for the future of the program. We have done a good job over the last three seasons growing into a competitive team that wants to not only be in the playoffs each year but get further into the post season. To do this we need to bring in players who can help replace the graduating seniors and push the returning team to grow," said Breton. "This group will be the first class coming into a team with a winning season, so they have big shoes to fill and high standards to meet. We believe each and every one are capable of doing so and can't wait to see what they bring!"

The Lopers went 8-6-5 in 2024, reaching the MIAA Tournament for the first time in nine years and setting several new team school-records. UNK will have fall exhibition games on Aug. 23 (host Wayne State) and Aug. 30 (at Augustana) with the regular season openers being Sept. 5 & 7 in Minnesota.

Shaeley Reichmuth (Fr., 5-8, D, Omaha/Skutt Catholic H.S.)
"I'm excited about Shaeley coming into our team this fall. Shaeley is a very fast, hard nosed, left-footed defender who will give us another attacking option out of the back. Her tenacity on defense and ability to get forward on the dribble or even in support really fits our style and is something you can expect out of her this fall."

Maddie Schaffert (Fr., 5-5, GK, Gretna/Gretna East H.S.)
"This was a great pick up for the program because Maddie is a serial winner; most shut outs in Nebraska High School history, only one loss in her career, a four-time state champion and plays for one of the best teams in the region. Maddie is not only a winner, but a grinder. She works hard, is always willing to do more and push herself or her teammates, and she is also someone who will raise the standards at practice day in and out."

Sydney Fisher (Fr., 5-8, D, Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer Ridge H.S.)
"What a great addition to our family Sydney will be. She showed us multiple times through her recruitment process that she's not only a good defender but a tough and gritty defender. Someone who doesn't quit playing and is always willing to get in the mix and use her body to win the ball or defend the goal.  She will bring another energy to our back line this year."

Sophie McWilliams (Fr., F, Bathgate, Scotland/Universal School)
"I'm excited to be adding Sophie to the attack this season. She will be the first player in our program history from Scotland and I'm pretty sure the first in all of Loper Athletics. Sophie is comfortable with the ball at her feet running at defenders. She can create from crosses and coming inside to create a shot. With Ivana (Siles) graduating, we needed to bring in another attacker who could contribute goals right away and I believe we found that in Sophie."

Odyssey Perez (Fr., 5-8, MF, Brentwood, Calif./Liberty H.S.)
"Bringing in a player like Odyssey was something we were very focused on for the 2025 class because we needed to add a defensive mid with a high work engine and willingness to win the ball in the air. Odyssey is a player who is comfortable on the ball, willing to drive forward with it and find the final pass to get the team into dangerous areas. I'm excited to see how Odyssey competes in our program and adds to our team."

Sierra Rosemont (Jr., 5-5, MF, Walnut Creek, Calif./San Ramon Valley H.S)
"We're very excited to be adding Sierra to our midfield this year. She has a strong defensive presence when she plays, can help progress her teammates up field and really does a good job at controlling the center of the field. Being named to the Big 8 All-Conference team was a wonderful accomplishment for her to achieve at DVC.  Now we are ready for her to bring those skills to UNK."

Cree Stewart (R-So., 5-7, GK, Tecumseh, Kan./Lawrence H.S.)
"I'm excited for Cree to be coming to us this fall. She comes to us from UMKC, where she spent two seasons developing. She is a wonderful shot stopper, who has good positioning and does a great job at keeping her team in the game.  She will be coming into a great environment where she will be challenged every day, and we are excited to see how she helps push our GK's and defense to new levels."

Paige Winter, (Fr., 5-5, MF, Wichita, Kan./Rose Hill H.S.)
"Very excited for Page to be joining us this fall. Paige was a player who came to one of our ID Camps and stuck out right away with her technical ability. She was sharp, intentional with her passes and just seemed to play effortlessly with everyone else around her. Even finished the day with a goal from 35 out. Paige will be adding quality to our midfield with her ability to flow with a game and make an impact when its needed."
