Kearney, Neb. – Nebraska Kearney head volleyball coaches Rick Squires announced today (July 30) that Lauren Taubenheim will serve as the Lopers graduate assistant coach this year.

The Lincoln native is no stranger to the program, having spent the 2020-24 seasons along the right side or in the backrow for UNK. She is one of only 35 Lopers to reach 1,000-career digs (1,312), was a rare four-time All-MIAA pick and 2024 graduate with a B.S. degree in Health Science.

"Along with being highly respected by her teammates and coaches, Lauren was one of the most intelligent and skilled players we have ever had at UNK.  We are excited for her to share her insight and expertise with this year's team," said Squiers.

Taubenheim replaces another Lincoln native, Jaden Ferguson, as the program's GA. Ferguson spent two years at UNK, one as a grad transfer and one as a coach.

The UNK staff also includes assistant coach Samantha Hammond, student assistant Mya Maxwell, part-time assistant Maddie Squiers and volunteer assistant Breanna Shaffer.

The 2025 squad begins fall camp on Aug. 18 (Mon.) with the season beginning in Vermont the weekend of Sept. 5-6.
