Bill Essert was a rare five-sport letterman during his years from 1912-1916. Because of the rules at the time, Essert earned five letters in basketball. He also earned two letters in football, three in baseball and one each in track and tennis. He was captain of the 1916 baseball team. After graduating Essert played professional baseball two years before beginning a career in education in Yoder, Wyoming.
