Phyllis DeBuhr Mazour was a two-sport athlete, excelling in softball and volleyball from 1984 to 1988. In softball, Mazour was a two-time All-American pitcher, leading the Lopers to the NAIA National Championship in 1987. In that tournament, she won all five games while posting a 0.00 earned run average. She also pitched the Lopers into the national tourney in 1984 and 1988. Twice during her career, the UNK volleyball team qualified for the NAIA national tournament where Mazour was named to the All-Tournament team in 1986. She was Nebraska’s College Athlete of the Year in 1987.
