A 1941 graduate, Chelys Mattley Hester has a dedicated record of service to sports and recreation in the Midlands. She taught in the physical education department at Nebraska Wesleyan University for 26 years until she retired in 1980. She served as president of the Midwestern Association of the AAU and she was meet manager for four national Junior Olympic Championships in swimming and diving, and for three national junior championships.
