Recognition: Athlete

Jerry Scott’s play at center on the Loper football team from 1978 to 1981 was one of the reasons for the team’s outstanding success during that period. Scott was a two-time NAIA All-American and was selected all-conference and all-state college three times. His freshman year he received the Tom French Award, presented to the top freshman football student-athlete. The 1979 and 1980 teams qualified for the NAIA playoffs with the 1980 squad losing in the national semi-finals to Northeast Oklahoma. During Scott’s four years, Coach Claire Boroff’s teams posted a 30-8-2 record and won the Central States Intercollegiate Conference three times.
