Guy Murray joined the athletic staff in 1972 and served as head baseball coach the next 29 years. With 614 victories, he owns the most wins in UNK baseball history. Murray led the Lopers to 10 NAIA District 11 titles and was District Coach of the Year 11 times. His 1981 team set the school mark for victories in a single season with 37. Murray, who also served as an assistant football coach during his tenure, was inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1999. In 1991, he received the U.S. Baseball Federation Service Award. He has been a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association executive committee and Hall of Fame Committee.
