Kathy Nelson Swanson was a two-time All-American infielder for the Lopers during her playing years from 1981 to 1984. During that time, UNK qualified for the NAIA National Tournament all four years, finishing second in 1983, third in 1981 and fifth in 1982. Coach Hank Dicke’s team posted a four-year record of 145-52. Swanson held nearly every hitting record including at bats (625), hits (240), doubles (41), triples (38), home runs (31), extra base hits (110) and runs batted in (221). Her career batting average of .382 was also a school record.
