Brenda Gonnerman Urban was an NAIA All-American shortstop for the Lady Loper softball team in 1981, 1982 and 1984. She was injured during the 1983 season, but returned to play in the national tournament and was named to the all-tournament team. She was also named to the national all-tournament team in 1981 and 1982. She was all CSIC and all NAIA District 11 all four years she competed. In 1982 she hit .432 to set the school record. The softball team qualified for the national tournament all four of her years at UNK, finishing third in 1981, fifth in 1982 and second in 1983.
