Scot Schug was the first Antelope athlete to earn first-team NAIA All-American football honors twice. He made those teams as a punter in 1981 and 1982. In 1981, he led the nation with a 44.8 yards per kick average. His 43.2 average in 1982 was the NAIA’s second best mark. Schug was also a two time first team selection in the Central States Intercollegiate Conference and NAIA District. As a sophomore, Schug was a member of the Coach Clair Boroff team that compiled a 10-2 record and beat Mars Hill, North Carolina, in the first round of the national playoffs before losing to Northeastern Oklahoma, in the semi-finals.
