Recognition: Athlete/Coach

Pat Panek earned three letters—football, basketball and track. He was a fullback and kicker in football, a pole-vaulter in track and the leading scorer of the basketball team from 1923 to 1925. As a coach, Panek compiled one of the most remarkable records in history. Coaching at Fullerton, St. Paul, Norfolk, Denver East and Denver Machebeuf, Panek was the winningest prep coach in history compiling a 328-117-29 record in 52 years. Only Amos Alonzo Stagg coached more years. Panek is a member of the Colorado Athletic Hall of Fame and the National High School Hall of Fame.
