Justin Coleman set 11 NCAA Division II national passing records during his career as a quarterback for the Lopers. Among those were yards passing (11,213), yards per attempt (9.4), yards per completion (15.8), games of 200 yards or more (32), games of 300 yards or more (16) and TD passes by a freshman (29).

As a senior, Coleman was runner-up in the balloting for the Harlan Hill Award, the Division II Heisman trophy. He also was named a second-team All-American that year by D2Football.com and was third-team pick by the Football Gazette.

Coleman, who also was a member of the Loper basketball and golf teams for a time, started every game for the Lopers during his career. He was All-RMAC first team in 1997 and 1999 and a second team pick in 1998 and 2000.

He still holds Loper records for career passing yards (11,213), passing TD's (99), pass attempts (1,193), pass completions (706) and passing yards per game (273.5).
