Steve Larson had an outstanding career as an interior lineman on the football team from 1968 to 1971. As a freshman he won the Tom French Award as the outstanding freshman football player. The next three years he was an all-conference and all-district selection. He was team co-captain as a senior in 1971. Larson’s work as a weight coach at Kearney High School is one of the reasons for their unprecedented success in high school track. In 1990 he was selected Nebraska assistant track coach of the year.
