Tim Higgins was a four-year letterman for Coach Jerry Hueser’s basketball team from 1977 to 1980. The Lopers qualified for the National NAIA Tournament all four years of Higgins’ playing career and finished second in 1978 when he was selected to the All-Tournament Second Team. As a junior and senior, the 6-5 toward was Central States Intercollegiate Conference Most Valuable Player and an NAIA All-American. He also was State College Athlete of the Year as a senior. When he graduated, Higgins was the third most prolific scorer in UNK history with 1,639 points. He led the team in scoring three years. Higgins was drafted by the Golden State Warriors and later played professionally in Iceland.
