Recognition: Athlete

A graduate of Elba High School where he played six-man football, Randy Rasmussen played in the first 11-man football game he saw at Kearney State. During his playing days from 1963-66, the Antelopes compiled a 31-6 record. Rasmussen earned NAIA All-American honorable mention honors as a senior after earning all-conference recognition four years.

That summer he played in the college all-star game against the NFL Champions. Rasmussen is best remembered as an offensive guard for the New York Jets for 15 years. He was a starting guard on the Jets 1969 Super Bowl Championship team.

His # 76 Loper jersey has been retired; he joins Justin Coleman and Tom Kropp as the only KSC/UNK athletes to have had this honor.
