Jim Lovell earned nine letters in three sports-football, basketball and track –competing for coaches Fred Fulmer and Ted James between 1928 and 1930. After graduating he coached and taught for a number of years including at the University of Hawaii, where he was assistant track coach and football coach. He was coach of the college all-stars in the 1955 Hula Bowl
